Planned changes

This section provides an overview of the changes Atlassian will make so you can start thinking about how this might affect your application. You will see when and in which milestone a change was implemented.

Rebuild the search index in a cluster

Status: DELAYED

Some improvements are made to the way you rebuild the search index in a cluster. Once the rebuild is complete on one node, this index is automatically propagated to all other nodes in the cluster. A new user interface allows you to see exactly where the process takes place.

The Atlassian team is still working on this change, so it will not be included in 7.6. More information will be provided at a later date.

OAuth 2.0 for incoming mail

Status: DELAYED

OAuth 2.0 authentication for incoming mail (POP3) is added. This will involve some changes in the way you configure an incoming mail server.

Atlassian is still working on this change, so it will no longer be included in 7.6. More information will be provided at a later date.

Cache optimisation

Status: COMPLETE

When clustering, Confluence uses a distributed cache that is managed by Hazelcast. Data is partitioned equally across all Confluence nodes in a cluster, rather than being replicated on each node.

To enable additional horizontal scaling capabilities for the Confluence cluster, Atlassian switches some caches to local cache with remote validation.

The default cache configuration in Confluence is still a fully distributed cache, so these changes should not affect your plug-ins.

More information about this change will be available soon.

New audit log events

Status: COMPLETE

Several new end user behavior events (move page / blog, share page / blog, request access / grant access) have been added.

Audit log improvements

Status: DELAYED

Atlassian removed the following minor improvements to the audit log in 7.6.0-rc1 after discovering a problem:

  • Filter events by category
  • Increase or decrease the retention of audit log files.

These features are expected to be available in Confluence 7.7.
